Brazil’s Inflation: Will the Central Bank Tighten?

  • March inflation figure increases the probability that the central bank may raise interest rates earlier than previously expected (mid-year), but due to growth risks that linger, such rate increase, if it were to happen, would probably be very modest, and perhaps followed by a pause that allows policymakers to evaluate fresh data on growth.
