Central Bank Outlook: RBA Rate Cuts, Further Policy Easing?

  • Surprising some, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) decided to cut the Cash Rate by 25 bp to 3.25% at its meeting in October. This follows cuts totaling 75 bps in May and June.
  • The RBA noted softer global growth in recent months, along with downside risks. Of note, the RBA view is that Chinese growth has slowed, and uncertainty over its near-term prospects has increased.
