Claims: Expected Decline, Trend Slightly Higher

Initial jobless claims fall a less-than-generally-expected 10,000, to 307,000 (Consensus: -16,000, to 300,000; DE: -10,000) from a prior-week level revised up by 1,000. According to the Labor Department, no special factors influenced the results.
