Posted November 20, 2012 by rvillareal

October housing starts are much sturdier than expected, rising 3.6% (Consensus: -3.7%; Decision Economics: -12.8%) from a prior-month level revised down by 1.0%.  Multi-family starts gave big a boost, rising 11.9% from a September level revised down by just 0.4%, while single-family starts preserved the big (+10.6%) September gain, slipping 0.2% from a prior-month level revised down by 1.3%.
