Weak Housing Starts
[private]February housing starts surprised sharply to the downside, falling 22.5% to 479,000 at an annual rate (Consensus: -3.5%; Decision Economics:-6.7%), from a prior month level revised up by 3.7%. The result more-than-reverses the 18% month-on-month jump seen in February, which had been due to a surge in multi-family units, and takes the headline reading to its lowest level since April 2009.
