Durable Goods: Sideways for now
[private]
Total durable goods orders show an expected rebound, but at a softer-than-expected 2.2% pace in February (Consensus: +3.0%, DE:+2.5%), after a slight upward revision to the January’s large decline(now -3.6%, initially -3.7%)
The important orders ex-defense equipment and aircraft rose 1.2%, following +3.5% and -3.7% swings in December and January. End-of-year swings can be volatile, with end of year buying, in part on tax-related effects causing a pulling-forward of activity.
