The June employment report is solidly stronger than expected, with payroll employment up a well balanced 288,000 (Consensus: +215,000; Decision Economics: +220,000), and the unemployment rate dropping an unexpected 0.2 point, to 6.1% (Consensus: 6.4%; Decision Economics: 6.3%) on the “healthy”  combination of a 407,000 jump in employment and an 81,000 rise in the labor force.
