Initial Claims: Sustained Improvement?
Initial claims fall a somewhat more-than-expected 23,000 (Consensus and Decision Economics: -15,000) from a prior-week level revised up by 3,000. The new figure covered the May payroll survey week, and at 340,000, put the five-week survey month average at 340,000, down from 362,000 in payroll April.
