Initial Claims: Where’s the Hiring?

Posted August 22, 2013 by rvillareal

Initial claims meet expectations, rising 13,000 (Consensus and Decision Economics: +10,000) from a prior-week level revised up by 3,000.

The new figure covered the August payroll-survey week, and, at 336,000, put the five-week survey-month average at 333,000, all but unchanged from the month-to-date average as of last Thursday–and, accordingly, still showing a near-15,000 drop from the payroll-July average.
