The headline August Philadelphia Fed index meets expectations, improving to -7.1, from -12.9 in July (Consensus: -5.0; Decision Economics: -8.6). Details of the report paint a picture of steady-state decline–but, unlike the Empire State Survey numbers, do not show new deterioration.
