Pending Home Sales
[private]The January pending existing-home sales index rises a firmer-than-expected 2.0% (Consensus: +1.0%; Decision Economics: -1.5%), but from a December level revised down by 1.6%.
Annual revisions smoothed the history of the series–notably, tempering big October and November increases, but without altering the December level more than that relatively mild amount. The effect, along with the earlier revisions to the existing home sales numbers, was to narrow somewhat the recent overrun of pending sales over subsequent actual transactions.
