[private][private]The early-July reading of the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment index surprises deeply to the downside, dropping 7.7 points (Consensus: +1.0 point; Decision Economics: +0.5 point). There was significant weakness in both the current conditions index, down 5.7 points, and the expectations index, down nine points.
